Nowata CAN has been actively engaging with the youth coalitions of Nowata and Oklahoma Union (OKU), recently returning from an inspiring trip to Arizona where students attended the VIVE 18 conference. Energized by the experience, the students took the initiative to invite the conference’s keynote speaker to visit our local schools during prevention week, scheduled for April 21-25.
As part of ongoing prevention efforts, and with strong support from community members and local law enforcement, Nowata CAN has partnered with the Cherokee Nation to launch a mobile harm reduction unit. This valuable resource has been well received and actively utilized within the community, serving as a powerful tool to fight substance abuse misuse.
